Executor for an estate

A lady I have known for twenty years was a good client and a friend. With no prompting from me, she asked me to be the executor of her estate. We met with attorneys to get her documents drafted.

This was 8 years ago. When she passed at age 98, I became the executor of her estate and proceeded to pay her bills, sell her house and liquidate her accounts. It has been a lengthy process, but it is more than a job, it is an office of duty, like voting, that we bury our dead honorably and execute their last wishes respectfully.

She was very concerned that if she made one of her children the executor, then it would create discord and unforgiveness among the children, that might separate the family.
